Alex successfully defended his thesis on a cold Glasgow day in January. His thesis titled: “Extending Peptide Search Space and Self-Assembly Methods” was examined by Dr Antonia Mey, University of Edinburgh, and Dr David Palmer, University of Strathclyde. Alex used a mixture of molecular dynamics simulations and latterly, machine learning methods to explore the peptide […]

Well Done Marie-Pierre!
Congratulations to Marie-Pierre Dreanic after successfully defending her thesis titled “Computational Modelling of Enzyme Activity to Speed Up Biocatalyst Redesign”, after examination by Adrian Mulholland (Bristol) and David Palmer (Strathclyde) on Friday 1st June. Marie was a joint student between GSK and Strathclyde applying QM/MM calculations to allow the rational design of biocatalysts, by studying […]
Well Done Armelle
Congratulations to Armelle Le Gall on successfully passing her viva. Her thesis was titled “Studies and Improvements of Molecular Docking Methods in Rigid and Flexible Receptors” Armelle was a joint student between GSK and Strathclyde doing work focussing on molecular docking in a drug discovery context. We wish Armelle the best of luck for the future.
2016 MRS Spring Meeting
From the 28th March till the 1st April, Ines attended the 2016 MRS Spring Meeting. This is a conference that needs no introduction, and it was held for the first time in Phoenix, Arizona. She gave an oral talk entitled “Enzymatically Activated Emulsions Stabilized by Interfacial Self-Assembled Structures” as part of the SM5 seminar “Surfaces […]
